the North to the Severn Estuary in the South. With some of the best coarse fishing
in the country. The Midland Region has over 6750 km of river and 900 km of canal
fishing, plus many hundreds of still waters. The region is split into four areas:
Upper Trent, Lower Trent, Upper Severn and Lower Severn Areas.
Upper Trent
Area: Predominantly Staffordshire and the West Midlands
Lower Trent
Area: Predominantly Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire
Upper Severn
Area: Predominantly Shropshire, Powys and Worcestershire
Lower Severn
Area: Predominantly Gloucestershire and Warwickshire
Bream, pike and roach the dominant species in most flowing waters.
Barbel become important species in the upper reaches of major rivers.
